Personal Reflection
There have been many special moments in my career, but it’s the “firsts” that stand out most:
My first international singles title at the Atlantic Rim Championships (2007) — I still remember borrowing a phone to share the news with my family back home.
My first Commonwealth Games gold medal in Glasgow 2014 — shared with Tracy-Lee Botha. Winning a second medal at the same Games made it all the more meaningful.
Returning home to the overwhelming pride and emotion of my late husband, Adrie, who always called my performances “skitterend” — a word that still drives me today.
Equally close to my heart is my SA Masters Singles record: 7 titles and 18 medals over 23 years of selection. It’s a symbol of consistency, hard work, and enduring love for the game.
With a lawn bowls career spanning over 30 years, I’ve had the honour of representing South Africa on the world stage and achieving milestones across every level of the game. I began playing at the age of 21, inspired and guided by my mom, Brenda Webb. Those early years laid a foundation of passion and resilience that still fuels my drive for excellence today.
After 18 years as a qualified primary school teacher, I transitioned into the lawn bowls industry full-time in 2015, becoming the official Henselite Distribution Agent for Southern Africa.
